Mary E. Dazey, 88, of Crawfordsville died at 11:40 p.m. Sunday (July 19) in Williamsburg Health Care Center. She started working at Waynetown Elston Bank on Sept 22, 1924 and retired from there after 52 years. She was admitted to Ben Hur Health Care April 10, 1985, then transferred to Williamsburg May 9, 1985, and was the first patient ever to move into the facility when it opened.  She had been a member of Waynetown United Methodist Church since 1916. She was a past matron and secretary for 200 years of the Waynetown Chapter Order of Eastern Star, now affiliated with Alamo Chapter and received her 50 year pin this spring. She was a graduate of Waynetown HS and two-year Teachers College. She was born April 25, 1904 in rural New Richmond to William E. and Ida E. Sanders Cowan.  Survivors include one brother, Lawrence E. Cowan of Indianapolis; two nieces and nephews. One brother and two sisters are deceased. Graveside services are set for 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Elizabeth Gordon Smith officiating. Friends may call at __ p.m. Wednesday at Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home.
